Hurry!
Published in School & Library Binding by Browndeer Press (April, 2000)
Authors: Harry Hartwick and Emily Arnold McCully
Average review score:

Impassioned plea on behalf of endangered species
This story of an endangered animal is moving and should start children thinking about protecting wildlife. The author creates a sense of urgency by having the last-of-its-kind farivox say "Hurry!" Then Tom Elston, the 10-year-old who wants to buy the farivox, rushes home and frantically tries to collect the ten dollars necessary for his purachase. Children will be anxious to see if he gets his pet or not. The ending is moving and effective, and is an excellent vehicle for the author's ultimate lesson about real endangered species.

I'm Nobody, Who Are You? the Story of Emily Dickinson
Published in School & Library Binding by Houghton Mifflin Co (Juv) (July, 1979)
Authors: Edna Barth and Richard Cuffari
Average review score:

Creative!
I've owned this book from a long time ago and I still enjoy it. Focusing on Dickinson's life as a poet and the irony of publication times (her poems were discovered only after she passed away) this is a book that fans of poetry and fans of Emily will love.

The Importance of Emily Dickinson (Importance of)
Published in Hardcover by Lucent Books (January, 1998)
Author: Bradley Steffens
Average review score:

Good Overview of Dickinson's Life & Poetry
What sets Emily Dickinson's poetry apart from that of her peers? How did Dickinson's education, family life, and religious struggles influence her poetry? Why did Dickinson dress only in white and confine herself to her home for the last 20 years of her life? The author ponders these questions and more in this short work written for middle school students. Included are some of Dickinson's poems, excerpts from her letters, and numerous illustrations of her friends, family and acquaintances.

Italy on the Loose 1995
Published in Paperback by Fodors Travel Pubns (November, 1994)
Authors: Nicole Harb, Emily Wise Miller, Caitlin Ramey, and Berkeley Travel
Average review score:

Reliable guide to travel in Italia!
My husband and I took this book with us (along with other some other guides) on our 5-week honeymoon to Italy a few years ago, and it ended up being the one that we used the most. The prices in the book were current, and the reviews of accommodations and places to eat were right on, unlike some of the other guides that we used. This turned out to be true throughout our travels in Italy, even in areas that are not typically frequented by Americans. We are planning on returning soon, and this will surely be one of our "essentials."

JavaBeans for Dummies (For Dummies)
Published in Paperback by Hungry Minds, Inc (17 April, 1997)
Authors: Emily A. Vander Veer, Emily A. VanderVeer, and Joseph H. McIntyre
Average review score:

Good JavaBeans book
Hi, my name is Laurence Vanhelsuwe and I am the author of Mastering JavaBeans (Sybex, 1997). I've browsed several Beans books in the bookshops of late and the only one that I liked (apart from my own) was Emily's. Her book is very different from mine, but is much better than most of the others I've seen so far.

The Jossey-Bass Guide to Strategic Communications for Nonprofits : A Step-by-Step Guide to Working with the Media to Generate Publicity, Enhance Fundraising, Build Membership, Change Public Policy, Handle Crises, and More!
Published in Paperback by Jossey-Bass (January, 1999)
Authors: Kathy Bonk, Henry Griggs, and Emily Tynes
Average review score:

Quite Useful for Students
The Jossey-Bass Guide to Strategic Communications for Nonprofits is a detailed examination of the relationship between nonprofits and the media. As the title says, it provides a step-by-step guide for nonprofits to establish effective relations with the media that result in publicity. My professor recommended this book to me, and I'm finding it quite useful. It has a similar approach to Guerrilla PR: Wired by Michael Levine; both are about maximizing your return on investment.

I especially enjoyed this book because I'm thinking about working for a nonprofit after graduation, and I haven't seen anywhere near as much about public relations and publicity for nonprofits as I've seen for corporations.

Kate Chopin's Private Papers
Published in Hardcover by Indiana University Press (September, 1998)
Authors: Kate Chopin, Emily Toth, Per Seyersted, and Cheyenne Bonnell
Average review score:

Complete collection of Chopin's journals and private papers.
i really enjoyed reading chopin's private papers -

although what we have left of chopin's personal documets are minimal, this book contains all of it.

still, we can continue to infer and speculate on her life. chopin can be seen as a young and budding woman while she schooled at the sacred heart. and, then travel with her on her eye-opening honeymoon to europe.

this book lends us a more closer look at one of the great female writers of the 19th century.

The Lazy Days of Summer Cookbook: A Celebration of Summer's Bounty
Published in Hardcover by Villard Books (April, 1992)
Authors: Jane Watson Hopping and Emily Bestler
Average review score:

Fun Summertime Cookbook
The emphasis in this cookbook, is on summer foods such as homemade ice cream, strawberry goodies, fresh-from-the-garden vegetable dishes, summer memories and poems with the usual theme being family and friends. "From the Pixy People" by James Whitcomb Riley, and other fun read aloud poems are offered here. The book is delightfully illustrated, in a similiar style to Hopping's other books. Our family enjoys this one.
